Celebrating Black History Month: Skrubs x CBNA Partnership
Black History Month is more than a celebration — it’s a call to recognize, uplift, and empower Black communities in every field, including healthcare. In Canada, Black nurses have long been at the forefront of care, advocacy, and systemic change, yet their contributions and challenges often go unnoticed. That’s why Skrubs is proud to partner with the Canadian Black Nurses Alliance (CBNA), an initiative that truly makes a difference.
About the Canadian Black Nurses Alliance (CBNA)
The Canadian Black Nurses Alliance (CBNA) is the leading national voice for Black nursing professionals and students, driving transformation through mentorship, advocacy, and academic chapters. With regional initiatives spanning across the country, CBNA works tirelessly to break historical silos, amplify Black nurses’ contributions, and foster leadership within the healthcare system. As a trusted hub for truth, data, and systemic change, CBNA challenges inequities and influences policies through research, lived experiences, and collective action – ensuring lasting impact for generations to come.
How Skrubs is Giving Back
At Skrubs, we believe that real change happens when we invest in the next generation of healthcare workers. We understand that the journey to becoming a nurse comes with multiple challenges – financial, emotional, systemic. We also know that confidence and comfort in your uniform are crucial, and we recognize that the cost of quality uniforms can often create a barrier in the academic journey. That’s why, as part of this meaningful partnership:
-
Skrubs will donate a set of our premium scrubs to each recipient of the CBNA's scholarship program annually.
-
CBNA members will be offered an exclusive discount on our high quality uniforms. A portion of the proceeds from these sales will go directly to the CBNA, helping to further their mission of advocacy, mentorship, and. Community support .
This is our way of empowering the next generation of Black nurses as they begin their careers.
To Black Nurses and Nursing Students: This is for You
If you’re a Black nurse or nursing student, we see you. We know the dedication, strength and resilience it takes to pursue a career in healthcare. That’s why we encourage you to connect with CBNA. Whether you’re looking for mentorship, scholarships, or a strong, supportive community, CBNA is here to help you. Your journey is important, and you don’t have to navigate it alone.
Why This Matters
Representation in healthcare saves lives. When Black nurses are supported, mentored, and uplifted, the entire healthcare system benefits. By standing with CBNA, Skrubs is not just providing uniforms – we’re investing in the future of Black healthcare professionals and advocating for a more inclusive field.
We’re honored to be part of this initiative and excited to see the incredible impact that Black nurses in Canada will continue to make in healthcare. Let’s keep pushing for a more inclusive future together.
